Lavina X Grinding Workflow: How Contractors Control the Transition from Metal to Hybrid to Resin

Why scratch pattern control matters more than simply choosing more aggressive tools in concrete polishing

· Concrete Grinding Tools

In concrete polishing, many jobsite problems do not start at the final polishing stage. They start much earlier, during the transition from metal grinding to resin polishing.

For contractors using a Lavina X grinder, one of the most common problems is poor scratch control. A floor may cut quickly in the early stages, but if the transition is not managed correctly, deeper metal scratches remain visible far longer than expected.

That is why a practical Lavina X workflow should not be thought of as “just keep moving up in grit.” It should be thought of as scratch-pattern control.

A real contractor setup from the United States shows how this works in practice:

• 30 grit metal diamonds

• 70 grit metal diamonds

• 50 grit hybrid pad

• 800 grit resin pad, followed by higher grits as needed

At first glance, this may look like a normal polishing progression. But the real value of the sequence is how it manages the floor between stages.

The 30 grit metal diamond creates the first serious cut and begins opening the slab. This stage is about cutting and control, not appearance.

The 70 grit metal diamond improves the surface before transition. Its role is to reduce the rougher metal scratch pattern so the floor is better prepared for the next stage.

The most critical step is the 50 grit hybrid pad.

This is where many workflows either become stable or begin to fail. If the transition tool is skipped or chosen poorly, resin pads may spend too much time chasing old metal scratches instead of refining the floor efficiently. That leads to slower work, more tool wear, and less predictable results.

The hybrid stage helps reduce that problem by acting as a bridge between aggressive metal grinding and later resin polishing. It does not replace metal grinding, and it does not replace resin. Its role is to prepare the floor so resin polishing can begin under better conditions.

Only after that does the workflow move into 800 grit resin polishing, and then to higher grits depending on the final finish requirement.

The lesson here is simple: in Lavina X polishing, the transition stage often determines whether the workflow feels smooth or frustrating.

For contractors, a better result usually does not come from choosing the most aggressive tool possible. It comes from controlling the relationship between one stage and the next.

At Monkey King Diamond, we pay close attention to transition logic because that is where many polishing systems either save time or waste it. A good workflow is not just about the first cut. It is about how the floor is handed off from metal to hybrid to resin with the least amount of unnecessary rework.
