A repeat ASL T2 tooling order is valuable only when every specification remains explicit. In this case, the order paired twelve clockwise 3-hole trapezoid PCD tools with stabilizer bars and twelve 16-grit medium-bond ASL/Xingyi metal tools. The PCD tools address the coating-removal stage, while the metal tools begin grinding after the concrete is exposed.
The lesson is not that this combination should be copied for every ASL T2 or every floor. The useful lesson is that direction, mounting pattern, grit and bond must remain separate purchasing fields—even when a contractor is reordering a familiar setup.
What the Repeat Order Actually Records
A repeat purchase records a tooling specification. It does not, by itself, prove removal speed, service life or the finished condition of the floor.
This order preserves four important details: a 3-hole trapezoid mounting style, a stabilized PCD structure, a clockwise directional option and a separate 16-grit medium-bond metal grinding step. Losing any one of those details during a later reorder can change how the tool installs or performs.
This is why “same machine brand” is not a complete purchasing instruction. ASL and Xingyi grinders can use different plates, holders and adapter arrangements. Before repeating an order, compare the current plate with the previously approved setup rather than relying only on the machine name.
Why Clockwise Is a Purchasing Field
Clockwise and counter-clockwise are not color choices. A directional PCD tool must correspond to the working direction required by the installed grinder plate.
For this order, the selected version was clockwise. That does not establish that every ASL T2 configuration uses only clockwise tooling. Plate configuration, rotation markings and the current tool arrangement must still be checked before installation.
The safest reorder reference is a record containing the machine model, plate photograph, mounting face, rotation marking and previously supplied tool. The gold body shown in a product image cannot establish direction on its own.
Disconnect the machine from power before changing tooling, and inspect the mounting points and fasteners before operation.
PCD Stops Being the Right Tool When the Coating Is Gone
PCD belongs to the removal stage. It is selected when epoxy, glue, paint, mastic or another coating still separates the grinder from the concrete.
The stabilizer structure provides additional control beside the aggressive PCD cutting element, but it does not turn the tool into a normal concrete grinding shoe. Once the coating has been removed, continuing to treat the slab as a coating-removal job can leave an unnecessarily aggressive surface.
The handoff should be based on what remains on the floor. If coating residue is still visible, stay with an appropriate PCD coating-removal tool. If the concrete is exposed, stop and inspect before moving into metal grinding.
Why 16 Grit and Medium Bond Are Separate Decisions
The second product in this order is a 16-grit medium-bond metal tool. Its job is different from that of the PCD.
The 16-grit specification controls the aggressive opening stage. The medium-bond specification controls how the metal matrix releases diamond as the tool runs. Neither field should be replaced with a generic request for an “ASL grinding shoe.”
A medium bond was selected for this order, but that does not make it universal for the next slab. Concrete abrasiveness, machine loading, tooling wear and cutting response still need to be observed in a small test area.
If the tool loses cutting action while showing very little wear, the bond-floor combination requires review. If the segment wears unusually fast, the floor condition, machine pressure and bond selection should also be checked before committing the full set.
Contractors comparing later grinding stages can review the available metal-bond grinding tools, but grit and bond should be selected from the actual floor condition rather than copied from the last invoice alone.
Use an Inspection Gate Between PCD and Metal Grinding
PCD and 16-grit metal tooling should not be treated as a mixed set for one grinding pass. They belong on opposite sides of an inspection gate.
After PCD removal, clean the floor thoroughly. Remaining dust can hide thin coating residue, isolated adhesive patches and deep PCD tracks. Inspect several areas rather than judging the entire slab from one clean section.
If coating remains, another controlled removal pass is required. If the slab is exposed, make a short 16-grit test pass and examine the cutting rate, scratch pattern and segment wear.
The next decision comes from that test. Continue only when the metal tool is cutting consistently and the resulting profile matches the next construction step. If the project is moving toward polishing, later grits or transitional tooling must remove the 16-grit scratch before resin polishing begins.
A Better Reorder Record Prevents Expensive Substitutions
A useful reorder record should preserve the machine model, plate or holder type, mounting pattern, required direction, grit, bond and quantity as separate fields.
It should also retain front-and-back photographs of the approved tooling. This prevents a visually similar 30-grit product image from being mistaken for the ordered 16-grit version. The body shape may look alike while the grinding stage is materially different.
Repeat buyers can start from the ASL/Xingyi grinder tooling page, but previous fitment should still be reconfirmed if the machine plate, adapter, coating condition or concrete changes.
A repeat order is most useful when it reproduces a verified specification—not when it turns one past purchase into a universal recipe.
