• Metal Bond Grinding Tools

Choose metal bond tools for concrete grinding, slab opening, leveling, scratch control, and surface preparation.

Select bond and grit by concrete hardness, machine weight, coating removal history, and the scratch pattern needed for the next step.

  • How to Choose Metal Bond Grinding Tools

Metal bond grinding tools are used after coating removal, slab opening, floor leveling, and the first controlled grinding steps on concrete. The right tool is not selected by grit alone. It depends on concrete hardness, machine weight, segment shape, bond hardness, and the scratch pattern needed before hybrid or resin polishing.

On hard concrete, a bond that is too hard can glaze and stop cutting. On soft or abrasive concrete, a bond that is too soft can wear out too fast. If the floor still has epoxy, glue, mastic, paint, or coating residue, remove it first with PCD coating removal tools. Once the slab is clean, use metal bond grinding tools to open the surface and control the scratch.

Match Bond, Grit, and Segment Style to the Job

Coarse grits are used for opening concrete, removing high spots, and starting aggressive grinding. Finer metal grits are used when the scratch needs to be controlled before transition tools. Single segment tools can cut more aggressively under the same machine weight. Double segment tools can run smoother and may be better when the floor already has a more even surface.

The grinder also matters. A Lavina, Husqvarna, HTC, Scanmaskin, Klindex, WerkMaster, Prep/Master, EDCO, Terrco, or ASL machine can use different plates, locking systems, and working pressure. Before ordering, confirm the grinder model and attachment through shop by machine.

When to Move From Metal Bond to Hybrid Pads

Do not move to polishing pads just because the coating is gone. The concrete should have an even scratch pattern, no remaining coating film, and no deep random cuts from the previous step. If the metal bond scratch is still open or uneven, stay with metal grinding. When the scratch is controlled, move into hybrid pads. After the hybrid step removes the metal scratch, continue with resin polishing pads.

If the floor condition, bond choice, or machine fit is unclear, use contact us before ordering the wrong segment style.
