Hybrid Transition Pads

Hybrid transition pads are used between metal bond grinding tools and resin polishing pads. Their job is to remove or refine metal bond scratches before the resin polishing stage starts.

Do not choose a hybrid pad only by grit number. Check the previous metal grit, scratch depth, concrete hardness, floor openness, machine weight, and target finish. If the metal scratch is still deep or uneven, stay with metal grinding. If the scratch is controlled but still too visible for resin pads, move into hybrid pads.

Copper Hybrid Pads vs Ceramic Hybrid Pads

Copper hybrid pads cut aggressively and are useful when the metal scratch is still visible after grinding. They can help bridge the floor from metal bond tools into the polishing sequence.

Ceramic hybrid pads are often used when the floor needs cleaner scratch refinement before resin polishing. They are useful on concrete floors where resin pads would show scratches, swirl marks, or uneven gloss if used too early.

If the floor still has epoxy, glue, mastic, paint, or coating residue, do not start with hybrid pads. Remove the coating first with PCD coating removal tools, then grind the exposed concrete with metal bond tools before moving into the transition step.

When the Floor Is Ready for Resin Pads

The floor is ready for resin polishing when the metal scratch is even, the surface is open enough, and no deep random cuts remain. If resin pads are used too early, they may polish over scratches instead of removing them.

After the hybrid step has refined the scratch pattern, continue with resin polishing pads. For machine fit, holder type, and pad size, check shop by machine, or use contact us when the grinder setup is unclear.
