Choose cup wheels and edge grinding tools by the area you need to reach, not only by diameter. Open edge areas near walls can use larger cup wheels or edge grinding discs. Tight corners, columns, stairs, and repair zones usually need smaller tools, triangle pads, or more controlled corner tooling.
For grinding concrete edges, the goal is not only fast cutting. The edge scratch should match the main floor grinding sequence before the job moves into transition or polishing. If the edge is too aggressive, the wall line can show deeper scratches. If it is too light, the edge stays behind the main floor.
For grinding concrete corners, control matters more than speed. Use smaller edge tools when the grinder cannot reach cleanly. Use metal bond grinding tools when the job is still concrete grinding or scratch control. Use hybrid pads when metal scratches need refinement before polishing. Use resin polishing pads only after the edge has been properly refined.
If the edge still has epoxy, glue, paint, mastic, or coating residue, start with PCD coating removal tools before trying to polish or refine the surface.
