Use this 3-inch hybrid pad after the metal grinding stage has produced an even scratch pattern but the remaining scratches are still too visible for resin pads.

Its role is to refine the surface progressively and reduce scratch carry-over into the resin polishing stages. It is not intended to replace aggressive metal grinding or coating removal tools.

How to Select the Starting Grit

Do not select a hybrid pad only by matching the number used in the previous metal step.

Check:

• Previous metal bond grit

• Depth and uniformity of the remaining scratches

• Concrete hardness

• Machine weight and working pressure

• Floor openness and aggregate exposure

• Target finish

If the metal scratches are still deep, uneven or random, remain with the appropriate metal grinding step.

Move to a hybrid transition pad only after the metal scratch pattern is controlled but still needs refinement before resin polishing.

When Not to Use This Pad

Do not use this hybrid pad as the first tool on a floor that still has epoxy, glue, mastic, paint or another coating.

Remove the coating first with an appropriate PCD tool, then use metal bond grinding tools to open and level the exposed concrete.

Do not jump directly to high grit hybrid pads while deep metal scratches remain. Higher grits may pass over the scratches instead of removing them.

2. Choose the starting grit.

Select the hybrid grit according to the previous metal step, scratch depth and concrete condition.

3. Confirm the holder.

Make sure the pad diameter and attachment match the machine’s pad holder or driver plate.

4. Install matching pads.

Install the correct number of pads evenly across the machine plate.

5. Refine the scratch pattern.

Run the machine according to its operating instructions and check whether the previous scratches are being removed evenly.

6. Inspect between steps.

Clean the floor and check the scratch pattern before moving to the next grit.

7. Continue progressively.

Do not skip grit stages unless a test area confirms that the next grit can remove the previous scratch pattern completely.

8. Move to resin polishing.

Continue with resin polishing only after the hybrid stage has produced an even surface without deep metal scratch carry-over.
